About The Value of Basketball Rebounding Rate and the
Percentage of Available Rebounds
What's the value of 'Rebounding Rate'? Unmistakably it gives us the percentage of available rebounds that a certain player grabbed.
But, the question is if the 'Rebounding Rate' does keep an account for the degree of excellence of rebounders on a team. As always, we go to the eBA Basketball Statistics Analysis System to get the answer.
Having a greater than normal rebound rate on a remarkable rebounding team is produces a stronger effect than a slenderly higher rating on a bad rebounding team.
Rebounding Rate - RbR - estimates the percentage of available rebounds a player grabbed out of those available to him. So, it doesn't concede the truth to what the other teammates are doing on the boards.
Rebounding Rate - RbR doesn't report the quality of a player's teammates and it does not consider who you were fighting for these boards. Player's teammates certainly have an effect upon that value, but I don't know how important it is.
Rebound Rate = (Rebounds x Team Minutes) / [Player Minutes x (Team Rebounds + Opponent Rebounds)]
Finally, how to define a relation showing how individual rebounding affects team rebounding ? A "better" rebounder is one that make better the team's rebounding.
