The Hop Step Definition
Hop Step: A particular move which can create excellent shot chances and more variety in player's arsenal.
Player begins to drive to the basket with his strong hand. When ready to hop, bounces the ball hard.
At the same time, jump off his foot that is opposite to the ball.
In mid-air, hold the ball with both hands being sure to land on both feet at the same time ( if not, it is traveling ).
When the player is closer to the basket, he shoots it or dish it for an easy bucket.
If the defender is playing the shooter to a certain side, he must hop to the opposite direction.
For example, if the defender is playing the shooter to the right, then hop to the left.
