About an Inadvertent Whistle Statistical Registration Case
"... With 14 seconds left on the shot clock, defender B2 deflects the ball out of bounds.
A2 makes the throw-in and the ball is deflected by B1. With the ball bouncing freely on the floor, an official inadvertently blows his whistle.
1) to whom the ball is awarded;
2) shall the shot clock reset ?
3) how the statistician register this possession ? ..."
Basketball Rule Fundamental:
This case is a assemblage of a rule ( team control ) with a definition ( inadvertent whistle ): when an inadvertent whistle occurs and there was no player or team control at the time of the whistle the shot clock operator shall stop the timing device and reset the shot clock.
BasketbAll Rule Interpretation:
The ball is awarded to Team A according to the alternating procedure.
eBA Basketball Statistical Registration:
The statistician work is only to register the two deflections, because the same original possession is being yet played.
