Basketball Players: Happy Birthday Arvydas Macijauskas !
Arvydas Macijauskas (born January 19, 1980 in Klaipėda, Lithuanian SSR, Soviet Union) is a Lithuanian professional basketball player. He is currently in a court dispute with his former team Olympiacos BC of the Greek League.
Macijauskas is 1.93 m (6 ft 4 in) in height and he weighs 98 kg (215 lb). He plays at the shooting guard position. He is one of the most accurate 3-point shooters in the Euroleague, often maintaining season accuracy percentages around 50%.
He holds the second record of all time in consecutive successful free throws made in the Euroleague, making 94 in a row, before missing one on November 26, 2003, in a game against ALBA Berlin.
Macijauskas played in the Euroleague 2004-05 final game of the Moscow Final Four, after his team TAU Cerámica qualified for the championship game with a win over CSKA Moscow in the semi-final.
He signed a four-year contract worth €9 million Euros net with the Greek League team Olympiacos on July 20, 2006. He sustained an Achilles tendon injury on September 16, 2006, during a friendly game.
On the 31st of March 2007, he played for the first time in a friendly game, after his serious injury. He played his first two games after his serious injury against his former team, Tau Ceramica, scoring 2 points in the first game and 13 in the second game.
Macijauskas showed a great improvement from his injury and gave a terrific performance during the first two months of the Euroleague 2007-08 season. He was awarded the Euroleague's November MVP award. For the month of November that season, he had an average of 30 player ranking points per game and he shot 80% overall from the field.
In 2008, Macijauskas was accused by the club Olympiacos Piraeus for training with professional basketball players in 2007, where he got injured once more[1]. Because of Macijauskas continuous injuries, Olympiacos Piraeus want to cancel his contract without a compensation. The court is currently pending the judgement whether Macijauskas should get a compensation. Meanwhile, he cannot play in any team in Euroleague.

During 19 games played in the NBA with the New Orleans Hornets during the 2005–06 NBA season, Macijauskas scored a total of 44 points in 135 minutes, for a scoring average of 2.3 points per game.
His NBA Career highs are:
* Most points scored in one game: 8; New Orleans Hornets vs Atlanta Hawks.
* Total rebounds in one game: 3; New Orleans Hornets vs Atlanta Hawks.
Following the 2005-06 NBA season, Macijauskas returned to the Euroleague, and he later strongly criticized the NBA, his former team the New Orleans Hornets, and his former coach Byron Scott, saying, "I want to forget that year. Everything went wrong. A really bad coach, a bad franchise...The NBA isn't fun. Teams are no teams, there's no true commitment between the teammates. Everybody is always talking about money and business, so it seems it doesn't matter to win or lose."
