Statistician's Digest: Additional Comments about the Prouty Rating
The Prouty rating is a simple, yet effective, method of rating players which is based on averaging four areas: 'Offensive Efficiency', 'Total Offense', 'Possessions' and 'Win Rating'.
The eBA Basketball Statistics Analysis System relates this rating but does not applies it.
The various individual parts of the Prouty rating, you can read the formula in my post here: Basketball Statistical Formulas: The Prouty Rating, are based on a per minute basis and if you study the formula in the eBA Basketball Statistics Register Clinic, you'll see that there are four main sections. The Offensive Efficiency ( how many points you score per shot ), Points Per Minute ( how many points you score or help others score per minute ), Possessions Per Minute ( how many possessions you gain or lose your team per minute ) and Win Effect ( how responsible you are to your team's win percentage, based on minutes per game ).
