Statistician's Digest: Decipher College Basketball Team Stats
... How do you decipher the following college basketball team stats ?
Team Example: (24-2, 16-1 Pac-21) ...
When given in this format, the first set of numbers is overall wins - overall losses, in this case 24-2. Following in the example is conference record given as conference wins-conference losses with a designation of which of the 31 conferences the team is in, in this case the 'team example' record in their conference is 16-1 and the conference is Pacific #21.
Also given sometimes is the home, road, or neutral site record of the team (depending on where the game is being played). As with the other two, the general format is wins-losses. Thus, if the team above was playing its next game on the road, it could read as (24-2, 16-1 Pac-10, 12-1 road).
