You wrote that each individual charge taken is equal to a steal. Although in both cases we have a steal I don't agree with this: the value of both actions is not the same. A fair amount of the value of a steal is not just ending the opposition's possession but the fast-break opportunity it provides. We'll go on with this discussion, but an important quantity of some data about the offensive value of a steal is well developed in the exposition about this topic in the eBA Basketball Statistics Register Clinic.
