Statistician's Digest: Quantitative Sports Analysis

"... I will say that the improving of quantitative sports analysis in general - is becoming even more and more important. The field is broad open, developing at a fast pace.
But in order to be a rightfully effective statistician, one must not totally ignore the qualitative principles and values. Should we leave qualitative representations to the journalists and sports writers ? Can phenomenological and constructionist viewpoints get in the way of objectivity ? Perhaps, but I think we all agree that unless statistics & statisticians are god, they cannot look at anything with 100 percent objectivity and that qualitative principles and values can add more valuable insights and variables from perspectives not taken into account, and supplement quantitative assumption based on an observation. ..."
