Coach's Digest: MOST HELPFUL SCOREBOOK STATS
Which are the most helpful scorebook stats, for example before going into the locker room at half time, according to the Basketball Statistics Creative Analysis System, and why ?
Logically, the best and first indicator of the winner is to be sure that the team that has the most points is my proper team..., and only after that, I see the most helpful scorebook stats:

- defensive touches tracked and shots inside the paint... ( how aggressive are we playing ? );
- number of fouls called on each team... ( who shoots the most free throws ? );
- rebounds... ( are our rebounds at 40+ / 50+ per game and we own the boards ? );
- turnovers, steals... ( are the immediate gratification you are looking for in a game...);
- the shot chart for both teams by quarter ( are we shooting to many jumpers and not attacking the rim ? );
- the shots by 4, 8, 16, 20 & 24 seconds report ( is this game pace our game pace? )
- missed layups... ( all the other problems will get over that as soon as players start making layups !);
- deflections... ( are we getting good pressure in the passing lanes ? );
- turnover/assist ratio for players and turnovers/steals ratio for the team ( more assists and steals, OK ? );
- OER (offensive efficiency rating)= total points scored divided by total possessions;
- DER (defensive efficiency rating)= total points allowed divided by total possessions;
- these last two stats take the tempo of the game out of the equation and give you a true sense of how effective you are at scoring and stopping the other team.
In my opinion, everything else is post-game analysis as proposed in my eBA Basketball Statistics Creative Analysis System.
